Quilters Descend on Arrabri

On Friday 14th October, 60 quilters descended on Arrabri Lodge Warburton for the annual Ps&Qs quilting retreat.

The weekend started off with Sally’s Sewing Trivial Pursuit! It was a team event with a much coveted prize – giant Cadbury’s chocolate bars for each member of the team. The competition went down to a tie-breaker with a question about colour.

A big thank you to all of our tutors. They kept classes going during Saturday and Sunday. Many beautiful things were produced. The Main Sewing Hall has a lovely hum of sewing machines, chatter and laughter. Andrea’s hand sewing group in the Games Room had a buzz of conversation going as many beautiful Sashiko and Slow Stitched pieces were created.

The classes were well attended.

The Lodge, as usual, provided wonderful food. This was supplemented by Suzanne Sampson who made delicious fruit cakes (one gluten free) and gluten free slice to be enjoyed by all. Thank you Suzanne for those delicious desserts and for the extra apples and shortbread biscuits.

Our speaker Carolyn Murfitt, provided an inspirational talk on Saturday evening about her journey to long arm quilting. Jaws dropped when looking at her detailed quilting designs. Thank you Carolyn. It’s always amazing to reflect on the talent we have in our Guild.

A big thank you to the following organisations for generously supporting our retreat:

For 2017, the Retreat has been scheduled for October 20-22. Mark it in your calendar!
Sally has kindly agreed to lead the Retreat committee for 2017. We have had 2 other volunteers but could use one or two more. If you are interested see me or Sally.

Cheers, Leslie
