Our Retreat was held at Arrabri Lodge, East Warburton from Friday 17th-Sunday 19th of October.
This year's theme was 'A Quilter's Garden'. Forty-nine Ladies attended the retreat.
Our local patchwork shops generously supported us with vouchers available for shopping on the way to Warburton and donations for our lucky number draw.
The event is fully catered and we enjoyed a weekend of sewing and chatting without the interruptions of domestic chores.
Classes were held in:
- Disappearing Pin Wheel by Maureen Mackie
- Whole cloth machine quilting using Keryn Emmerson patterns, guided by Mary Phillips
- Hand piecing with Chris Serong.
- Christmas wall hanging with Robyn Roberts
- Quilt as you go with Helen Osborne
- Cloth dolls with Aileen Kerr
- Whole Cloth Quilt Class
- Whole Cloth Quilt Class
Ladies doing their own projects were able to consult Marie Lee for machine piecing and Liz Willing for hand piecing advice. Show & Tell after lunch on Sunday showed what a productive weekend everyone had had.
The winner of the Marie Higgs block was Val Musgrove, well done Val. Our raffle quilt was drawn at the November Guild meeting and won by Liz Carlin-Smith.
The success of the Retreat is due, not only to the organization of the Committee, but to the co-operation, enthusiasm and involvement of all who attend.
Please mark the 3rd weekend of October - 16th - 17th 2015, in your diaries. The deposit has been rolled over and we look forward to enjoying the Retreat next year.
Your retiring Retreat Subcommittee,
Heather Shepherd, Margot Kemke, Mary Phillips, Les Bain & Maureen Mackie
We would like to extend our appreciation to the shops who so generously sponsor us for this event and encourage all our members to support these shops so that they can continue to be there for our quilting needs.
No problem logging on, thanks.
Look forward to seeing the web site grow.
Mary
Easy process with clear instructions. Will be fun to see how this all works out. I often miss meetings so maybe this will help me and others feel more connected. Thanks.
