Using the Japanese art of Shibori resist dyeing as an inspirational jumping-off point to explore various traditional and not-so-traditional techniques for creating patterns on cloth.

In this workshop, we’ll fold, pleat, wrap, twist, stitch and compress cloth in various ways to make beautiful and unique patterns using inks as a faster and more environmentally-friendly way to colour the fabric permanently.

August 26-27 (Saturday/Sunday)

Judy Coates Perez is an International award-winning mixed media textile artist, travelling globally to teach painting and mixed media techniques on fabric and lecture about her creative process. One part gypsy and two parts visual alchemist, she travels to new places, opening up new realms of possibilities for her students by revealing endless ways to combine paint, paper and metal with fabric and the sources of inspiration we all too often overlook in our immediate worlds. Judy has written numerous articles for Quilting Arts and Cloth Paper Scissors magazines, has three instructional DVDs by Interweave and has been a frequent guest on Quilting Arts TV.

Booking Details

To secure your workshop place fill out our workshop booking form and pay the applicable fee. There is an additional workshop fee of $30 to cover speciality items for this class. We will send out more details and a supply list to attendees late July.
