Our December meeting is generally a highlight in our Ps&Qs year. 2015 was no different, with 135 people attending and having a wonderful time. As we arrived at our tables we found a variety of items had been placed there - white socks, Christmas notions and sewing supplies. Our task - to create a Christmas 'Snowman' from the items provided. As usual, our Ps&Qs members were more than up to this challenge and the photos below show just how creative our members can be.
The December shop was provided by Needles and Pins and featured lots of kits, patterns, fabrics, and other delights. To find out more, investigate Needles and Pins at: needlesandpins.allthingsquilting.com.au
Another meeting feature was the display of quilts created for the Blue and White Challenge. Hopefully all of these will be displayed at Showcase in 2016. A selection of the blue and white quilts is shown in the gallery below.
After completing the usual meeting formalities, our President Leslie adopted a question and answer format to interview the Guild's newest Life Member - Alex Robson. It was interesting to hear the stories of his introduction to, and involvement with, the Guild and Quilting in general. The backdrop to the interview was provided by a quilt completed recently by Alex.
Thanks to all the committee members and other volunteers who organised a wonderful Christmas lunch and a variety of activities: they were thoroughly enjoyed by all participants. Particular thanks go to Deb Burt who led our Christmas sing-along. Thanks Deb - you are truly appreciated!
Our meeting concluded with the traditional display of members' work in our Show and Tell feature. I have included photos of some of the quilts in the gallery below.
Belated best wishes for the New Year - I am looking forward to catching up at the February meeting.
