DESCRIPTION:October Tutor of Note - Mariya Waters Appliqué Workshop\nMariya Waters is an international and Australian award winning quilt maker and teacher. She currently specialises in hand appliqué and machine quilting but has also won international awards for contemporary art and innovative quilts. \n\n		\n			\n				\n			\n			\n		 \n		\n			Mariya began quilting in New Zealand in 1990 and her first quilt was selected for a juried quilt show and then published in a book. In 1994 while living in England her third quilt won the prestigious Ascot Trophy at the national championships. Since then Mariya has specialised in making quilts for exhibition with most taking a year or more to complete. http://www.mariyawaters.com/\n		\n			\n		\n \nMariya was our guest speaker in April 2023 and provided two Workshops for the Guild that year. We were in awe of Mariya’s skills and talents after we took most of the day to make one flower with her exquisite appliqué technique.  We’re making the flower in this picture for the class. \nOur next Workshop with Mariya is on October 12\, a Guild members-only event. DESCRIPTION:Tutor of Note - Veronique Diligent\nAugust 18th 2023 \nJardin de Poche\nThis delightful and small project is for both embroiderers and appliqué enthusiasts. A traditional shape\, the orange peel\, revisited and extended to include a mini garden\, a “Jardin de Poche” (pocket garden). Whilst keeping the embroidery to 3 or 4 of the most traditional stitches you will make some gorgeous flowers such as poppies (my favourites)\, lilly of the valley \, fuchsias\, lavender\, just to name some. \nPrice is $40 which includes the pattern. \nThis is a Guild members-only event. \n\n		\n			\n				\n			\n			\n		 \n		\n			A fertile imagination couple with the ability to “draw anything” are the basis of her creative endeavours.
